Work is getting really crazy.
I have 2 major forecasts and plans due on 2 April, and one major presentation due on 11 April.
I have already set resolutions for the coming 1 to 2 months:
- Mondays: must try to go home on time, bring work home if necessary
- Wednesdays: kickboxing – must go!
No dinner appointments after work if I can help it. If not – just once a week.
The rest of the days: concentrate on completing the tasks that need to be completed for that day.
I realise that part of the stress actually comes from trying to go home on time. Haha.
It sounds weird, but it is true.
Of course I am not going to let history repeat itself – ie working until 12am everyday, but I think 8pm-9pm is a reasonable time for this period.
I am very impressed by the reaction of fellow colleagues and JB when they came to understand my workload.
Immediately the project team leaders said, OK how can we help to reduce the workload?
And we actually managed to pinpoint the issues, and de-prioritize some of the deliverables. We also talked about how other colleagues might be able to help with part of the items.
JB said, just let me know if there is anything money can solve. (in his usual haughty tone, of course. haha.)
His point was that if he could spend some money to get an agency to help me run the data, he’d gladly approve the budget for it.
On my part I think I have finally learnt how to say no, or rather, not to say yes to everything.
Somehow I am glad I am in this (not-so) new organisation, with a changed mindset.
