Another Mediacorpse Studios Production..

“PS… I Luv U” is mediacorpse’s very first 3G drama, made available to 3G mobile phone users who have nothing better to do and nowhere better to spend their money for download (not for free, of course), and losers who had nothing better to do at 9pm on a Sunday night or who were attempting to numb their pre-Monday blues by watching mediacorpse programs viewers were able to catch this telemovie on Channel U the past Sunday.

Starring..

Clockwise from left:

Roy Chiu, who plays Xin/Yan -

A shy boy whose spectacles don’t really fit his face, such that he has to keep adjusting them throughout his performance as Xin. He can draw very well, but either stutters or speaks in a monotone whenever he tries to say something.

Xin leaves for Thailand to see his dying dad without informing his girlfriend Xiaoyue (ok, he called once but she didn’t pick it up in time?!).

He dies in the tsunami and returns as a guardian angel for Xiaoyue, without the spectacles, fortunately.

Tammy Chen Yirong, who plays Xiaoyue -

An unreasonable girl who screams at every boyfriend (first Xin, then Feng) over the strangest reasons.

As the female lead in this absurd romantic story, she has two guardian angels – one dead (Xin/Yan) and one alive (Feng).

Fiona Xie, who plays [I can't remember the name] -

Another strange girl who weeps when she sees her boyfriend Feng talking to other girls, and forces him to admit that he has “done it” when she catches him talking to a secondary school friend.

Fortunately for Fiona (and the viewers), she disappears from the story after a bizarre breakup with Feng 15 minutes after the drama started, for reasons still unknown to the viewer.

(by the way, I did not deliberately hide her face behind those flowers!)

Qi Yuwu, who plays Feng -

A playboy (supposedly) who owns a flower/florist shop (??!), does nothing the whole time, and looks desperately in need of a good haircut.

After Xin’s disappearance, he somehow became Xiaoyue’s flatmate and somehow fell in love with her and somehow became the other guardian angel.

Other members of the cast include:

Gurmit Singh, who likes Kym Ng, buys many bouquets of flowers for her, but throw thems away whenever he see her approaching.

Kym Ng, who plays Gurmit’s love interest, and says yes a little tooooo readily when he finally popped the question.

Slyvester Sim, who plays himself Xiaoyue’s brother; his hobbies include mumbling to himself and smashing his guitar.

Kudos to the excellent comic relief from the three of them!

The plot (erm, if there is one)..

The four characters meet at an orientation camp (viewer’s own interpretation) and play a “guardian angel” where Xin becomes Xiaoyue’s angel, and Feng, Fiona Xie’s.

The four fall in love with each other’s mortal/angel, erm somehow, but Fiona breaks up with Feng 15 minutes into their onscreen relationship.

Xin and Xiaoyue strive on, until Xin goes to Thailand in order to be killed and then return as the guardian angel, which is apparently the theme behind this idol-drama.

Xiaoyue misses Xin’s last phonecall, and spends the second half of the story wondering where he has disappears to. Meanwhile, the viewers start wondering why Xin could not try calling her using the airport’s toll-free phones.

Xiaoyue moves out of her apartment, only to become Feng’s flatmate by accident, though she goes back regularly to her old flat to look at the painting done by Xin. We do not understand why she has to move out in the first place.

And then, Xin returns as Yan, and somehow brings Xiaoyue and Feng together.

The two are about to get married when Xiaoyue discovers that Yan is, indeed, Xin. She discovers that Xin has returned to be her guardian angel because of a promise he has made to her. She breaks up with Feng.

One fine day, Xiaoyue is taking a rest at the beach when she sees Xin/Yan crawling, sorry i mean walking, out of the water. She marries him.

Another fine day, Xiaoyue wakes up and the person beside her on the bed is Feng. (???!)

She is indeed a blessed woman with not one, but two guardian angels.

- The End -

The aftermath…

Viewers have since called in to Mediacorpse to:

1) Complain about headaches caused by the confusion caused by watching abovementioned drama

2) Seek professional counselling over the repeated repetitions of Xin’s line - ”No matter where you are, I am just behind you..” – even after he died in the show.

They have been said to be spooked and psychologically traumatised by the line.

3) Seek compensation for the loss of 2 hours of their precious time watching said drama

4) Seek compensation for the engagement of TV-cleaners to clean up the mess near/on/all over their TV sets, because they had uncontrollably thrown a dozen rotten eggs at their TV sets after the said drama was aired.

The less aggressive viewers have simply called in to find out if anyone understands the drama so that they can contact the smarter beings for queries pertaining to the characters/story/both.

The Sequel..

In view of the likely criticisms on this writer, who has been said to give unconstructive and destructive comments about mediacorpse and its productions, she has kindly thought of a sequel to “PS… I luv U”.

In the sequel, Xiaoyue would wake up and realise that everything and everyone is a dream, and that she is, in fact, still at the orientation camp.

Fiona dies in a car accident and returns as Feng’s guardian angel, mainly to prevent him from falling as his hair blocks his vision too much, and to cast a spell on him whenever he speaks to other girls, even grannies on the streets.

Meanwhile, Xiaoyue falls in love with Feng (because of his hair), and dumps Xin. The two get married, for real this time.

Xin discovers that he has never really loved Xiaoyue, and falls in love with Feng, too (because of his hair). On realising that he’ll never get to be with Feng, he commits suicide and becomes Feng’s other guardian angel. He takes turn with Fiona to stand guard over Feng.

All three of them becomes Feng’s guardian angels — two dead, one living.

The sequel, entitled “PPS… But I dun“, would be available for download and viewing after mediacorpse answers all queries and clears the mess created by “PS… I luv U”.

As to why the sequel title seems to have no direct link to the plot..

Erm, is there a need for one?
