开学大吉!

Daddy already 开工-ed yesterday.
Maybe that's why he's looking grumpy today. 😅

I've a very willing model this morning.

👧: "Yay! Clarissa is going to school!"

👶: ✌!

CNY #ootd

初一 #ootd #1.
Dress from ellyloves.

Going for the girl next door look. Hahaha.

初一 #ootd #2.
Dress from Wai-po and Ah-ah.

Going for the, erm, traditional look. Lol.

Her Daddy says she looks like she's selling dimsum. 😅

初二 #ootd.
Toy car from her Yiyi#4. 😁

Going hip hop! I actually love this outfit. Vintage-ish looking t-shirt and harem pants.

These two twinning in Mickey Mouse t-shirts.

Daddy's Mickey Mouse is also Vintage, from uniqlo.

I love this picture of the two of them.

👶: "Hey! Daddy also wearing Mickey Mouse!"

👦: "Can the two Mickey Mouses kiss?"

👶: "No!"

😍😍😍

2 years 3 months!

Facebook reminder, 2 years ago today:

Our cheerful baby!

Flipping like a champion.

I've stopped doing the monthly developmental milestones update, partly because I always remember after the fact, and partly because she says or does something new almost every other day and I'd write about it as soon as I can.

At 27 months, she can hold a pretty decent conversation with us, listen and follow instructions very well, and has a pretty good imagination in terms of her pretend play with her toys.

She understands both English and Chinese very well but has a preference to speak in English. She loves singing Chinese songs though.

There is a particular Chinese book my friend got her for Christmas, which she really likes and would ask me to read it over and over again.
We brought the book to Australia and I asked her to read on her own while I packed.

I cannot read Chinese!

She said to me. 😅😂

I was like, erm you cannot read English too? 🙊🙊

She surprises us with her understanding and use of different words.

Like today, she stopped in the middle of running and exclaimed to me:

Hey I notice something in the tree! Oh! A bird!

"Notice" – Pronounced accurately and used quite correctly. 😁

She knows that "see", "look at", "看" mean similar things and uses them on different occasions.. and now she has added "notice" to the list.

It's pretty amazing, the capacity of young children to pick up languages. 😁

Oh, and this exchange between her Ah-gong and her.

👨: Eh!你没有跟我讲新年快乐!
👶: I don't want to say happy new year!

😂😂😂

I'm not sure about the developmental milestones she's supposed to hit, but I'm happy she's growing up and learning new things every day.

I know of kids who are just a month older than her and already potty trained. She can tell us when she's about to poop – since a long time ago – and she knows she's supposed to sit on the potty when she poops.

I mean, she makes her duck do it. 😂
But she chooses not to do it herself.

I'd offer it to her and leave it in a corner, but she seldom takes it, for reasons I don't know.

I want to ask her why she doesn't want to sit on the potty when she poops, but I have a feeling she's going to say "because I want to stand". 😂

That to me simply means she's not ready for it, but one day when she opens up to the idea of sitting on the potty, she would.

Not a matter of "cannot", but that of "does not want to".

Just like how she doesn't want to say 新年快乐, even though she can. 😅

👶: "Mummy, do you see me?"

😅😅😅
Yes, of course I do.

Keep climbing and exploring, sweetheart. 😘
