Of spa packages, swaddles and a plate that can’t fly

A little someone woke up happy!

Was just smiling quietly at her three bunnies when we went into the room.

When she saw me, she kept talking non-stop. πŸ˜†

I woke up at 4am and didn't manage to go back to sleep. πŸ˜‚

Shall attempt to nap later when (and if) she naps!

#yesterdayre

Yesterday's me-time and #jailbreak for the week.

Utilised the spa package which I signed up years ago. My guesstimate is ~8 years ago? Because it was wayyy before Clarissa was born.

After yesterday's massage, I still have 12 sessions left!? πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ

The sales person was persuading me to get trial sessions for the 2 new types of massage they have. Some detox thing, 4 different techniques and all the yada yada good stuff.

I declined politely. πŸ˜‚

I can't imagine getting the trial session and then getting persuaded to sign up for yet another package.

I am quite a creature of habit and so I used to go back to the same therapist, and as a result I felt bad to turn down what they tried to sell me, especially if it was a good treatment and deal. πŸ˜…

I enjoyed the pampering (I still do) so I didn't mind spending the money.
Some pampering is always good. πŸ˜†

But after having Clarissa, it just didn't work out for me. I simply couldn't carve out time to book an appointment and to go for it.

Instead I went for those uncle/auntie type of 30-minute back massages during lunch breaks or right after knocking off whenever I needed that quick fix to unknot my aching shoulders / neck / back.

Book and visit on the same day.
Doesn't matter if it's not as private or as comfortable.

It works just as well, and is cheaper too.

But as a result, the packages remain under-utilised.

So my resolution this year is to go as often as I can. πŸ˜‚

At least before I return to work.

I also did a bit of shopping yesterday!

Tried out clothes for real. πŸ˜…

It's been a long time since I did that.
I only went to 2 shops but it was good enough.

Bought something for everyone!

Reserved this and finally got it.

We have 2 already and they are on heavy rotation. Good to have one more in case of rainy weather.

I really love this swaddle! It's easy to use, very convenient for diaper changes and most importantly Allie seems to be very comfortable in it.

Too bad I didn't discover this during Clarissa's time. We used cloth swaddles for her.

So the 3 we now have are all new purchases.

Not cheap at $55.90 a pop for the summer lite and this bamboo version, and $49.90 for the original.

The original version is thicker and probably too warm even in 25Β°C a.c. temperate. πŸ˜…

I bought the first 2 with 10% discount and the third one with vouchers lol.

It's worth it, because it really does what it claims.

I don't remember much about how Clarissa used to sleep, because the hubs is the master swaddler so he used to be the one swaddling her.

I can swaddle them too but it always becomes loose after a while. πŸ˜‚

It's difficult to swaddle Allie with the cloth, because her arms are always up and she protests when I try to keep them down in the swaddle.

So this is really perfect for her, arms up and all.

She uses this only at night, and so far, so good. πŸ˜‰

Hopefully I can pass the swaddles to someone else and put them to good (and extended) use when Allie grows out of them.

Though we are at the age whereby our friends are either done having kids or have decided not to have kids.
And cannot ask my sisters to have kids just to use these swaddles. πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚

Oh I also bought a few of these burrito type of swaddle!

Because the first CL said they are better. πŸ™„

But I don't like them because Allie puts up a fight when I try to keep her hands inside. Also it's a hassle to change her diaper at night – the sound of the velco, plus you have to remove the entire swaddle to change her.

It's a personal preference!

Happy to give them away because they have only been used a few times, mostly in the first 2.5 weeks.

Right after ☝️picture was taken I changed her out of it because the other swaddle was dry already! πŸ˜†

Haha auntie can talk so much about swaddles.

For #dayremummies!

In other not-so auntie news, I'm so glad someone decided to talk about this?

I cannot agree more, especially the part about "living life the wrong way choosing a normal job".

Then again of course we can simply choose not to read, or read and gossip / laugh it off with friends / sisters offline.. which is what I usually do. Only because it's kinda entertaining.

But not everyone would read and brush it off, which was my pet peeve about her not-so mini "mini moon" posts.

It sets the wrong expectations about how marriage or relationship or life should be.

Looking at the number of comments this post has garnered so far, I wonder if this would turn into another dayre drama, or if said Dayrean would continue to live in her own bubble while sharing about it and encouraging people to drop her an email. πŸ˜‚

Playground time for Jiejie because Meimei is napping. πŸ˜€

I wasn't intending to take her here but she asked the moment she stepped out of the school bus.

Tried to tell her, Oh no mosquito patch leh.

But she said, Why don't we go up to take and come down again?

No escape lol.

I agreed eventually since it's not a bad idea. Meimei can nap for a longer time. πŸ˜†

#chitchatwithclarissa

Pre bedtime chitchat tonight.

She told me, "Today I'm happy because I stand on the stool to brush my teeth!"

It's a new thing we started this week. I brought a stool into the bathroom so she could stand on it to brush her teeth entirely on her own instead of me turning on the tap and washing the toothbrush etc for her while she stood on the floor.

I thought she would say going to playground or playing with Da-yi made her happy, but I guess she's one who values independence. πŸ˜†

(Hahaha yes my sis came again this evening because yesterday after helping me to lock the gate, she slipped the keys into her own bag lol.)

When it was my turn, I took the opportunity to talk about the incident during dinner time.

She was very eager to finish her dinner and was down to the last few spoonfuls but in her over enthusiasm she pushed the spoon too forcefully against her plate.. and the entire plate of chicken rice flew off the table.
It made a big mess.

She wailed for a good few minutes.

I guess it was a mixture of shock and guilt?

I consoled her when it happened, assuring her that I knew she didn't do it deliberately.

Before she went to bed I wanted to let her know that it is ok to make mistakes and she can avoid it next time by sitting closer to the table.

πŸ‘§: I know you were sad because your plate flew off the table right?

πŸ™Ž: No, the plate cannot fly. It has no wings. It only DROPPED onto the floor.

So much for wanting to reassure her.
