Missing

It’s been 1.5 weeks since I returned to work after 3 weeks of sick leave, and it feels like..15 years. 😂

I’ve not had a proper lunch on a working day since last Monday.

Lunch would be coffee and a half eaten sandwich, or coffee and some random stuff swallowed over a meeting or one hand clicking on the mouse.

I’m not big on lunches. I mostly prefer to lunch alone or even at the desk so I can have some me time to think or to have more time to work so I can leave on time.

But besides missing out on proper lunches I’ve also been leaving the office after 630pm.

Meetings overran, work overran.

Sometimes I would come out of meetings at 430pm and start doing “proper” work. When I look up from the computer again, sharks, it’d be 630pm.

Mad rush to get a Grab, get stuck in traffic, take out my laptop to work, switch to mummy mode when I get home.

I miss spending time with Meimei.

It is usually 715pm by the time I get home, and I spend all of 15 minutes with her before she gets a wipe-down and milk.

I also feel bad about having less time with Jiejie, but at least I still get to shower her and do all the bedtime stories and chitchat and hold her hand to sleep.

And then I go back to finish up some work, go to sleep in Allie’s room, wake up in the middle of the night to a crying / shouting baby, wake up at 6am to get ready for work.

Rinse, repeat.

For the first time today, I felt overwhelmed thinking about all the work I need to do, and my challenge is time, and energy.

I left the office at 630pm, got home at 715pm and received a heroine’s welcome.

Jiejie hugged me and exclaimed, I miss you so much Mummy!

Meimei zoomed over in her walker, full of smiles, waiting for her turn to be carried.

She learned a new trick today.

If you say “Alamak!” to her, she’d cover her face with her hands, like this:

If you say “oops!”, she will cover her mouth with her hands.

Hahaha and Jiejie joined in the fun.

10 minutes of sitting with them (to take selfies lol, priorities) before the little one’s milk and bedtime.

So precious.

My favorite of the lot, because, bright smiles. And look at how Meimei placed her hand on her cheek! 😆😆
