Halls Gap

Day 6 started slow and easy with some play time at home followed by breakfast at Harvest Halls Gap.

No photos of breakfast because I was busy feeding Allie and she was busy climbing all over the place.

Clarissa got her milk shake and ice cream treat though; photos by the hubs.

We managed to catch Allie’s nap time properly as we made our way to Mackenzie Waterfall.

Clarissa dozed off on the car ride and so was still tired and sleepy. The hubs carried her through most of the trek while I carried a sleeping Allie.

The wonders of nature.

We then headed to Reeds Lookout and both girls were awake to see the breathtakingly beautiful landscape.

I especially love this one of Allie’s hair blowing in the wind.

Taking a famfie is harder than all the trekking. 😅😆

But the view makes everything worth it.

We had a very noisy ride to Woolsworth for some grocery shopping because a cranky baby poured water all over herself.

Not her fault, since we pretty much just wanted to let her hold onto anything she wanted, and she wanted Clarissa’s water bottle.

Her sweet Jiejie gladly let her have it, and she was able to open the cap and pour water all over herself.

We had to get her changed once we got to WW.

She refused to be buckled up in the trolley (of course) and was so happy to be standing in the trolley instead.

Of course Jiejie had to join her.

I think grocery shopping was Allie’s highlight of the day. 😆

We had yet another whiny car ride back but thankfully it was all of 20 minutes. 😅

And our big girl was so happy she got to sleep in the upper deck of the bunk bed that night!

I was feeling somewhat stressed about the 4-hour journey back to Brunswick the next day when I had a epiphany.

I had been thinking about how Clarissa has her mama duck as her source of comfort and entertainment on road trips, and how Allie does not have an equivalent of mama duck because she’s not attached to any particular toy.

The first 2 hours of the journey would coincide with her nap time and I had a 💡 moment.

Her swaddle.

Her cue for sleeping and her source of comfort (because she loves sucking on the handles so it’s really her 臭臭 like Mama duck is Clarissa’s 臭臭).

We should put her in her swaddle before strapping her in!

Tadah!

Day 7 was lovely because the swaddle worked like a charm.

She napped for 1.5 hours out of the first 2 hours’ ride to our lunch place.

We fed and changed her, had lunch before starting on the next 2 hours’ journey where she took her second nap.

Celebratory milk break after getting to our accommodation lol.

It’s not easy for Allie to be a trooper at her age now despite us wishing she is as cool as her sister. 😅

Instead of expecting her to conform (and be confined to the car seat) it is still up to us to figure out what works the best for her so I’m glad for that💡moment!
