Last stop before flying home!
Back in those days when I flew to Bangkok for work very frequently, this was my old hunt, right at the end of the entire stretch of shops after shops at the Suvarnabhumi Airport.
I guess I needed that little bit of familiarity amidst the craziness of flying from city to city.
This place doesn’t feel quite the same anymore. They’ve stopped serving the very nice keropok they used to serve as starters. ๐
It’s been a good work trip, meeting with the most interesting people.
Beneath the immaculate make-up, cheerful laughter, a successful career and seemingly perfect life, the modern Thai woman is tired, lonely and in desperate need for a shoulder to lean on.
I feel like giving them a hug and telling them, it’s ok to let your guard down sometimes.
It feels good to be back in action, but even better to be flying back to my babies:
The hubs who stood in for mother’s day celebration in school, and shower and bedtime stories.
(Apparently he was given the yellow card for arriving home after 730pm one evening. ๐ )
Bubs1 who always asked where my colleagues were and why I wasn’t having dinner or going out with them whenever we video-called each other.
And Bubs2 who didn’t know what was happening..
.. though our Little Miss One-teeth became Little Miss Two-teeth just this morning!
Despite being so exhausted and unwell on my first night here, I woke up every hour to check the clock.
And then I started sleeping for 5 hours straight, 6 hours straight, and last night it was nearly 7 hours straight – if you count dozing off again after checking the clock at 530am.
I guess business trips are always going to be a moral dilemma – between leaving your babies at home and missing them, while sleeping through the night and looking forward to nights like this. ๐ ๐
